Promote the development of mechatronic industrial applications in order to reduce costs, increase compactness and reduce energy consumption, taking into account the environmental impact, in the following areas:
• Energy Conversion:
- Static Converters
- Electrically driven energy recovery machines
• Auxiliary Actuators (Air conditioning, power steering…)
• Electrification of functions and creation of new functions
• Use of all available energy sources (Energy harvesting)
- Solar, Thermal,
- Sharing and management of vehicle energy
• Components for electrical energy distribution and management
• Other forthcoming mechatronic applications (e.g: tactile and haptic interfaces …)
3 - Robustness and reliability
• Component, organ and system failure mechanisms
• Physical and chemical aspects of the failure

4 - Design Methods and Tools
• Emergence of a community of excellence for the design of mechatronic products or systems:
- A mechatronics excellence network: both academic and industrial
- Capitalising on knowledge: reusable items, and their maintenance
• Projects leading to the emergence of flagship collaborative Platform(s) to support the process of mechatronic design and simulation:
- Multi physical models: thermal, vibratory , CEM , mechanical , electronic , electrotechnical , safe functioning and reliability
- Systems: functional and dysfunctional simulation

- Characterized within their cycle of mechatronic use
